Principal - Emma Liddell
Emma Liddell started dancing in New Zealand at the age of three. She trained in many styles from Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary to Tap. Throughout her training she competed in numerous competitions and won many awards as well as performing in a range of shows including performing with the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Emma received her Advanced Two Award from the Royal Academy of Dance and her Major Award in the Jazz Dance NZ syllabus.
In 2004 Emma moved to Melbourne to commence her Diploma in Dance. She loved every minute of her full-time training where she was learning from a very famous American dancer, Gelsey Kirkland. During Emma's three years full-time traning, she expanded her range of styles learning Flamenco, Musical Theatre, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics, Singing and Drama.
On completion of her Diploma in Dance, Emma travelled overseas for 18 months to learn from some the best dancers and teachers in the world including choreograghers for Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. Emma returned to Australia after travelling and dancing in L.A, Las Vegas, London, France, Cyprus, Bangkok and Bulgaria.
In 2010 Emma found it was time to make her long time dream a reality and open Backstage Dance Academy in Paddington, Brisbane. As well as opening B.D.A, Emma is the Queensland State Choreographer for the Australian Girls Choir here in Brisbane.
Emma is so grateful to be given the opportunity to pass on her acquired skills and knowledge and share her love of dance and the arts.
